A whirlwind opening 35 minutes
The Stadio Olimpico was treated to one of Roma's finest evenings of the season. The Giallorossi opened the scoring in the 13th minute through a slick Soule move that cut Fiorentina apart. Just four minutes later they doubled the lead — and the match was effectively over. De Gea in the Fiorentina goal did what he could, but the intensity of the Roma attack left him no chance.
In the 34th minute Malen or Pisilli added a third — 3-0 before the break. Fiorentina managed only five shots in total with 38% possession. The visiting coach was forced to make two changes at half-time just to stem the bleeding.
Fourth goal seals a historic night
Roma managed the second half with ease. In the 58th minute Soule or Malen fired home a fourth to make it 4-0, ending any lingering doubt. Fiorentina — featuring De Gea, Gudmundsson and Gosens — were a shadow of themselves. Just one shot on target across the whole match is a damning stat for a side with European ambitions.
Roma's final numbers were impressive: 14 shots, 7 on target, 62% possession. A genuine statement performance from the Giallorossi — one of their best of the season.
