Goals exchanged in a breathless opening 12 minutes

Parc des Princes expected a quiet evening — Lorient arrived in Paris with modest expectations. But just six minutes in, Doue or Barcola opened the scoring for PSG and everything seemed to be going to plan. Then, only six minutes later in the 12th minute, Dieng or Pagis silenced the stadium — 1-1. PSG had 65% possession and 17 shots across the whole match, yet Lorient made clear from the start they had not come to Paris merely for the experience.

PSG pushed for the winning goal throughout the first half and the early stages of the second. Twelve corners, seven blocked shots — Lorient's defensive organisation was compact and resolute. Mvogo in the visitors' goal finished with three saves.

PSG regain the lead in the 62nd — then lose it

After two changes in the 61st minute PSG finally broke through — Mayulu or Zaire-Emery made it 2-1 in the 62nd. Parc des Princes breathed again. But Lorient refused to fold. In the 72nd minute the visiting coach threw on three substitutes at once, and it worked — in the 78th Lorient equalised at 2-2. Sixteen minutes after retaking the lead PSG were back to square one.

The final 12 minutes were an all-out PSG siege — 12 corners tells the story — but Lorient held firm. Two points dropped for the leaders, three earned by the promoted side.
