Parisian masterclass — first leg (March 11, 5:2)
The opening game in Paris looked set to be a close affair, but PSG quickly took control. Bradley Barcola struck brilliantly inside the box to open the scoring. Chelsea equalised through Malo Gusto, but before the break Ousmane Dembele restored the lead for the title holders — a surging run through midfield, a dribble in the box, and a clinical finish.
In the second half Enzo Fernandez levelled at 2:2, but then Chelsea made a catastrophic goalkeeping error. Filip Jorgensen played out carelessly, lost possession, and Vitinha lobbed the stranded keeper — 3:2. Kvaratskhelia came off the bench and wrapped up the game with a brace in the closing stages. The 5:2 scoreline all but sealed progression.
Comfortable second leg at Stamford Bridge (March 17, 3:0)
Chelsea dreamed of a comeback, but PSG made it clear from the first minute they were not here to defend. Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring as early as the 6th minute, and Barcola doubled the lead in the 14th. After the break, Senny Mayulu added a third to end the contest. Chelsea finished with ten men following Chalobah's injury — Rosenior had no substitutions left.
PSG advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face Liverpool. The defending champions look like one of the main contenders to retain the trophy and appear fully switched on after a modest start to the season.
