A thriller in Gliwice

Supporters at the stadium in Gliwice could not have asked for a better spectacle. Piast Gliwice and Wisla Krakow produced one of the most entertaining matches of the early season — full of momentum swings, seven goals and drama right to the end. Piast had lost to Zaglebie 0:2 in the opening round and were desperate for points. Wisla, meanwhile, arrived riding the wave of enthusiasm after their first win back in the Ekstraklasa.

The match was played at a breathless pace from the first minute. Wisla led, Piast equalised, Wisla went ahead again. But in the second half, Piast found the answers to Wisla's defence and scored four times to win 4:3.

What next?

Piast claim their first three points of the season and can breathe again. Wisla Krakow suffer their first defeat since returning to the Ekstraklasa, but the fans know that settling into the top flight takes time. Even in defeat, Wisla showed character and a clear ability to score goals — qualities that will serve them well over the course of a long season.
