Leeds mean business
Leeds United returned to the Premier League after several years away and are making absolutely clear they have not come to make up the numbers. Four rounds, eight points, third place — a dream start for any promoted side. On Monday, the Whites dismantled Newcastle United 4:1 in a match that looked like a one-sided demonstration of strength for long stretches.
Leeds dominated the first half — a high press, sharp transitions and two goals before the break. Newcastle tried to respond but found the home defence too well organised. Elland Road celebrated two more goals in the second half, with Newcastle managing only a consolation strike.
What does this mean for the table?
Leeds sit third on eight points, behind only Arsenal and Manchester City. Newcastle drop to mid-table on five. For a promoted side, Leeds' four-game tally is absolutely remarkable — if anyone had said before the season that Leeds would be third after a month of football, very few would have believed it. And yet here they are.
