A crazy start — Udinese lead 2:0 at San Siro
Fans at San Siro expected a comfortable Inter win over a Udinese side fighting for survival. What they got was a season worth of drama packed into one match. Udinese surprised the Nerazzurri with aggressive pressing and led 2:0 after 25 minutes. San Siro fell silent. Chivu's Inter were up against the wall.
Zielinski and Lautaro turn it around
Piotr Zielinski, who is finally getting regular starting minutes this season, was one of the key architects of the comeback. The Polish midfielder provided an assist for one of Inter's goals, working tirelessly in the centre of the pitch and creating chances throughout. Lautaro Martinez scored twice, Calhanoglu and Thuram added their own. After the break Inter turned the game on its head — four goals in the second half, and San Siro breathed again. Udinese did pull back a third but the 5:3 scoreline was already safe for the Nerazzurri.
Inter show a champion's mentality
Cristian Chivu, who took over from Inzaghi, is building the side on similar principles — defensive discipline, quick transitions and individual quality in the final third. Having to come from 0:2 against Udinese should not have been necessary, but the fact that Inter did it shows the mentality of champions. 12 points from four matches and joint top of the table — the season is going well.
