City strike just before the break
Goodison Park was ready for a big game — and it got one, just not in the order anyone expected. Manchester City dominated the first half with a staggering 75% possession and 16 shots across the whole match, but for a long time all they had to show for it was a series of corners. Then, in the 43rd minute, the pressure told — City took the lead. Goodison fell quiet.
Everton looked like a side heading for defeat — only five shots, 25% possession, and four yellow cards picked up in the opening minutes after half-time suggested the Toffees were at breaking point. And yet...
Three Everton goals in 13 minutes — 3-1!
In the 68th minute Everton equalised. Goodison erupted. Five minutes later, in the 73rd, Ndiaye or Beto made it 2-1 — and suddenly the impossible was happening. In the 81st minute Everton completed the most unlikely turnaround — 3-1. Three goals in 13 minutes with 25% possession is statistically absurd, yet the Toffees pulled it off.
Donnarumma made three saves across the whole match — but in this spell he was helpless. Haaland, Cherki and Doku had spent most of the evening circling fruitlessly in City's attack.
City's dramatic equaliser in stoppage time
But City were not ready to accept defeat. In the 83rd minute Haaland or Bernardo Silva pulled one back — 3-2. Goodison began to wobble. Then, in the 90th minute, just when Everton seemed to have held on, City found a leveller — 3-3. A dramatic finish: a draw that feels like defeat for the Toffees and a last-gasp rescue act for City.
