Wild game in Gliwice — Piast 4:3 Wisla Krakow
The match of the weekend was without doubt the seven-goal thriller in Gliwice. Piast Gliwice and Wisla Krakow treated supporters to a rollercoaster of a game. Wisla, who had celebrated their Ekstraklasa return with a win just a week earlier, were beaten 3:4 away from home. Piast bounced back from a poor opening round and claimed their first three points of the season. For Wisla it was a cold shower after the euphoria of their debut.
Legia dismantle Zaglebie and go top
Legia Warsaw won at home against Zaglebie Lubin 3:1 and, with two wins from two, lead the Ekstraklasa table on six points. The capital club are showing early signs that they will be genuine title challengers this season. Zaglebie, who topped the standings after Matchday 1, drop down the table.
GKS Katowice hammer Radomiak
GKS Katowice won 3:1 at home against Radomiak Radom. For Radomiak it is a painful setback — they had beaten Wieczysta just a week earlier and now find themselves empty-handed.
Jagiellonia win in Lublin, Pogon take three points
Jagiellonia Bialystok picked up a full away haul in Lublin, beating Motor 2:1. The 2024 champions are making a strong start. Pogon Szczecin beat Cracovia 2:0 and sit level on points with Legia at the top — both clubs have six points from two games.
Slask Wroclaw beat Rakow
The biggest surprise of the weekend: Slask Wroclaw beat Rakow Czestochowa 2:1. It is the second round in a row that Rakow have dropped points — a worrying start for one of the pre-season title favourites. Wisla Plock and Widzew Lodz shared the spoils in a 0:0 draw. Wieczysta Krakow lost 1:2 to defending champions Lech Poznan — the debutants put up a fight but the points went to Poznan.
